Sustainable Fashion: What it Means and Why it Matters?
TSCH is clothing brand and community that was created by me and my partner in 2019. A creative association & clothing brand based on a love of design and art. The ideology of the brand is to create everyday clothes that helps to self-express. In every drop and event, we use design to express the main idea – ’THE WORLD IS RULED BY ART IN ALL ITS FORMS'. We had long and difficult path before becoming business successful and to achieve what we call brand community by making art inspirational clothing. Alongside our business goals we are also focused to be a sustainable company. So, what is sustainable fashion and how we see it?
Sustainable fashion is a movement towards creating fashion products that are environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable. While more and more companies are committing to sustainable practices, the reality of working conditions in the fashion industry is far from perfect. Employees in this industry face several challenges similar to those faced by employees in CSR companies.
One of the challenges faced by employees in sustainable fashion is the pressure to meet environmental and social goals. Sustainable fashion companies are often held to higher standards in terms of sustainability and ethical business practices. This can be a lot of pressure on employees to constantly uphold these values and achieve these goals. On the other hand, working for a sustainable fashion company can also come with personal growth and development opportunities.
Another challenge faced by employees in sustainable fashion is job insecurity. TSCH brand and many other companies in industry operate on a project-by-project basis, which means when a project is completed, employees' contracts are terminated. This can be a stressful situation for employees, especially those who have families to support. The uncertainty of not knowing when the next project will come along can lead to high levels of stress and anxiety. Facing this issue, we try to make at least half year plan to secure all the jobs for our employees in advance.
Work-life balance is another significant issue that employees in sustainable fashion face. Many companies in this industry have a culture of working long hours, often well beyond the standard eight-hour workday. This can lead to burnout, fatigue, and work-related stress. In our company we have free schedule. There is only one obligatory meeting during the week where we set goals and discuss the work done. Also, you can be free at any time if all your tasks are done.
Speaking about personal experience, in TSCH we have established a friendly working atmosphere in which every employee is satisfied; we don’t over produce and release limited amount of clothing; from 2022 we started charity activity, since that time we have worked with such foundations as “Подари Жизнь”, “Дари еду” and “Red Cross”. Our target is to stay profitable and to contribute to society as much as possible in our own way.
